Da Wan Guang Hu Temple was built during the Qing dynasty in the years of Kang Xi's reign. It was previously named the Wang Ye Temple and it mainly enshrines the Holy King Guang Hui who was the tutor of Xie An-Shi, the people's guardian during the Eastern Jin dynasty. The temple was given the name Wang Ye Temple because the Holy King Guang Hui was commonly known as Wang Ye. The temple has gone through many vicissitudes; the building was torn down and the god statues were destroyed before. The new temple was rebuilt in time after Taiwan Island proper was recovered and it is gradually attracting more and more believers.
