|Tainan Art Museum
- Tainan Art Museum Building 1
The building features a combination of old and new architectural elements. The main structure was originally the Tainan Police Department, completed in 1931 and designed by Tainan Prefecture technician Shichirō Umezawa. It is an Art Deco-style building with an eclectic design. The main structure is made of reinforced concrete, with red brick concrete structures on both wings. The exterior walls are primarily decorated with thirteen-groove face bricks, giving the building its elegant style.
This building was designated as a municipal historic site of Tainan City in 1998 and is one of the few well-preserved police department buildings in Taiwan. The building houses 10 exhibition rooms, workshops, a light dining area, storage rooms, and spaces for artifact restoration and testing.
- Tainan Art Museum Building 2
The original site was Public Parking Lot 11. The main structure features the phoenix flower, a symbol of Tainan, transformed into a pure pentagonal shape. This design is then vertically stacked and misaligned to create various spaces, with the semi-outdoor platform sculpted into a tiered area for rest and activities. The large pentagonal fragmented roof provides shade, designed to adapt to Tainan's local climate by mimicking the natural shading effect of trees. When sunlight shines on the fragmented roof from different angles, it creates beautiful light and shadow effects similar to sunlight filtering through leaves.
The second building includes 16 exhibition rooms, storage spaces, a multi-disciplinary performance hall, a children's art center, a creative workshop, a souvenir display area, a light dining area, and a scenic restaurant. The basement serves as a public parking lot open for public use.
