Attractions introduction

With a history of 338 years, Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Field is the oldest salt field in Taiwan. According to archives, in the Ming Dynasty, Yong-hua Chen, Koxinga's chief counselor, considered that the alt making techniques employed by the Pingpu Tribe was not good enough to produce good-quality salt. Chen therefore improved the old techniques. Chen had broken toles paves on the salt fields. A king if refined salt was thereby produced. The Salt Field currently is left in the charge of Southwest Coast National Scenic Area for industrail, cultrueal and educational uses. Tourists can try making salt on their own here.
